DEMOCRATIZING ACCESS TO IMMIGRATION INFORMATIONTHROUGH MOBILE PHONE TECHNOLOGY.

Welcome to Mobile Pathways

We are a Bay Area nonprofit on a mission to democratize access to immigration information through mobile phone technology. Mobile Pathways helps undocumented and underdocumented immigrants gain access to reliable legal information about their various avenues to legal status.

Our Story

Mobile Pathways’ founder, Jeffrey O’Brien, has been an immigration lawyer for over a decade.  After starting his own practice, he noticed how archaic practices in immigration courts lead to unnecessary deportations and a breakdown of the system, even when immigrants have legal recourse. One of the major roadblocks to a just immigration process is a lack of effective communication. Jeffrey quickly learned that the most successful means of communicating with his clients was through text message. Through SMS his firm can send appointment reminders and court deadlines that can have a significant impact on their case’s progression.

Jeffrey combined text-messaging with powerful automation tools from the Salesforce platform to create an efficient way to manage his cases, allowing him to serve more clients. Seeing the power and potential in this technology, Jeffrey decided to found Mobile Pathways so that he could devote time and resources to scale these tools and collaborate with other law firms and nonprofits at the intersection of immigration and technology.

Introducing the Pathways Toolkit

The Pathways Toolkit is a free mobile web application that provides access to legal information regarding court cases including court date reminders, locations, what to expect, and common forms needed. The toolkit also includes resources to help people reunite with family members in detention and provides a space for people to upload updates as the situation changes on the ground.

Try the beta version of the Pathways Toolkit for yourself! Text “Fecha” or “Date”  to 480-297-0445 and you will receive a link to the toolkit.

Join Us

We are throwing our first annual Soirée #Buildingbridgescreatingcommunity at the top of the Salesforce Tower on Thursday, September 12th to raise funds, awareness, and build community in support of individuals and families impacted by the current immigration climate.

We have a powerhouse line-up of immigration experts speaking on a VIP Panel representative of the many groups affected by this administration’s draconian stance on immigration. Each stakeholder will discuss how their community is faring in the current climate, what they are doing to counteract harsh policies, and how we can best collaborate to positively change the narrative and magnify our impact.
